Three Ways Creativity = Motivation

Image
Your Creativity = Motivation: How to Use it Wisely   I like to ask questions that bring out an interesting response. Frankly, I’m easily bored with the routine answers to the question, “how are you doing?” To get past meaningless social interactions, I try to ask a question to inspire interesting thoughts, or possibly lead into a more exciting conversation, or at best bring out  a feel-good moment with the other person. I always find that compelling questions result in more memorable exchanges that matter. Here is my favorite question to invite an engaging conversation:  “How’s Your CREATIVITY?” Yes, I like to stir things up. I like to engage people on a different level or an unusual angle.  Since creativity is one of my favorite topics, I like to set myself up for a more delightful exploration or exchange with others. Use Creative Thinking to Improve Conversations Being asked about your creativity is a unique experience for MOST people. It opens a door.

How Your Life Grows Like a Garden

Image
How Your Life/Business Grows Like a Garden I gave a presentation recently to a group of 60 people.  I talked about the "Garden Analogy" I wrote about in my book, illustrating how your life or business grows  just like a garden.  The short summary is this: You've got to  start with a vision , be able to SEE what it is you want badly enough. Then you've got to  get into the dirt ! Maybe there's a huge boulder you'll need to move out of the way. The dirt needs to be prepped. The foundation needs to be ready. A good foundation is key. Planting seeds  is next. Where do the right seeds come from? Where and When will you plant? Your seeds must be in alignment with what you say you want, and what you are willing to do. Alignment is a powerful growth agent.   Speaking of Growth, the next phase is  Tending the growth  - an ongoing practice. In order to thrive, we must feed and water what matters most. Staying in alignment with our priorities and f

Find Peace Amidst Chaos

Image
Over the weekend I took some quiet time in my back yard. I looked around and asked, "What do I need to hear?"   I felt like a wash of warm goodness to just sit and REMEMBER.   To feel connection with a sense of peace, goodness and the sense that everything is right.  Does this kind of disconnect happen to you?  I'm describing an experience where we get going so fast and so busy and then when we find a moment to relax or something happens to bring on a moment of connection with source, and SNAP! The warmth of peace feels so nourishing.  How smart would it be to do what it takes to experience more of this in our lives. More frequently. For ourselves. Consistently.  You can absolutely reach the worthy goal to "Find Peace Amidst Chaos."  Here's my favorite list of words to describe "Chaos". Notice if you can relate to any of these states: Disarray Discord Turmoil Muddle Snarl Topsy-Turviness

Fulfillment or Default, how to choose.

Image
We're best when fulfillment is feeding us with positive energy.  When we're not at our best, we've landed in our default zone.  Let's use this as a huge growth opportunity.  What's the difference between these two posters?    Which one do you want?  Opposition is a great invitation to embrace what we DO WANT.  Which poster feels like "YOU"? Which poster empowers you the most?  Sometime when we bounce off of our resistance, we land in a stronger place.  Which poster feeds your flame?  OR Are you ready to choose greater fulfillment?  CLICK HERE to learn about new workshop lead by Jenifer Novak Landers Visit the website for details:   www.fullyexpressedpotential.com

What it Takes to Create a New Lifestyle

Image
When people ask me about coaching they want to know what types of people I help and how I actually help them.   I just started a series of sessions with a woman referred to me by a mutual friend. She is a successful business owner who wants to create a new lifestyle where she can "work from anywhere". She wants more freedom and more revenue streams in her business, and she wants to be the bigger thinker to make this leap happen.   First important point, there are TONS of programs and content available to instruct on HOW to do these things. I offer her links and resources galore. She wants a coach by her side to help with focus and priorities and to mainly keep her from dropping the ball or getting overwhelmed. She sees the value of having me PERSONALLY relate everything to her unique style, quirks and abilities. Good thing I have the superpowers to tune into these things right away :) And, most importantly, this is a goal she seriously wants to achieve.  We a

Get Real with Drama

Image
Get Real with Drama I'm always looking for what my clients MOST NEED to be free. Everyone is stressed out, or dealing with some level of anxiety, and I'm feeling confident about saying "everyone" because all of us are steeped in an abundant flow of way too much going on, most of the time in our world. It's how we see it, and it's how we respond to it that matters.   My go-to answer for "how to break free" is to address the emotional component of the situation. How we choose to feel, how we choose to respond, how we choose to talk to ourselves and others about it - these are the REAL REASONS we will either set ourselves free or stay stuck in the drama.   KEY QUESTION to ask yourself, "Am I informed or am I activated?" Notice that being informed has you in a neutral state. Accepting the facts. Being activated has you triggered into an emotional state. Being irrational and implusive.  It's a great question to use when you wan

Do You Think Too Much?

Image
Thinking too much is like being a gourmet chef in your brain only you keep cooking the same dishes over and over!   Stop depleting your mind by continuously dwelling on questions you haven't answered. Let go of your RATIONAL mind and make room for relief and relaxation by accepting the unknown. Give yourself permission NOT to know. . . not forever, but for now.  The benefits of getting out of your head far outweigh your hope of getting something under control by thinking about it. Here are six questions you can ask  to bring relief and relaxation to your unproductive mental state:  ( Otherwise known as THINKING TOO MUCH) 1.  Am I feeling into this, or am I trying to figure it out? 2.  Is my focus on thinking this through, or can I focus on going with the flow? 3.  Am I fully present right now? 4.  What's possible if I LET GO in this moment?  5.  Does this (thought or behavior) come from my heart, or does this come from my head? 6.  Is this an opportunity for

Talk to Yourself Like You Would a Lover

Image
By actively NOTICING when you criticize or beat yourself up, you find huge opportunities for positive change. Easy changes to make, that bring noticeable shifts to your joy.  Improving your self-talk is the key to bringing on great rewards.   It's 100% possible to replace unloving self-talk with something gentler, motivating, supportive acknowledging and uplifting. As if you were your own lover.  How would you talk to your lover?  Re-direct this loving talk toward yourself.  Here are some self-talk tips you can use immediately, now that you have fallen in love with yourself all over again: Notice "I Can't" or "I'm not ______ Enough" statements.  They create resistance inside of you, which would sabotage any attempt you are making to be positive.  Start cancelling out your negative internal input. You would never say this to a lover. Imagining yourself this way makes it easy to shift.  Conjure up a positive image and begin

Do You Wish Life Was Easier?

Image
Why do we believe that doing more and doing it faster is the way to be? You can make a private choice - in your own best interest - to slow down. Make it easy means to just choose ONE THING. One small start to slowing things down. This is you, building an easier life.  Here are 4 choices that will create new habits.  Pretty soon you'll be on auto-pilot enjoying your new-found state of ease.  ONE:  Be deliberate and mindful.   Slow yourself down physically. Choose to make your movements slower. It’s fun to practice this skill by “mindful eating.” What if you ate a piece of fruit in the slowest way possible? Practice chewing slowly, breathing between bites, savoring flavors. All the benefits you discover in this practice are transferable to everything you do elsewhere in your life. TWO:  Focus on doing one thing at a time.   Do you feel depleted when you do too much and make mistakes? Cherish and protect your mental resources by “taking it easy” one ste

A Look Behind My Closed Door

Image
In 2004 I was starting a new chapter in my life as a single mom with my small daughter.   I was determined to create a fresh start for myself and my business.    I decided to attend a weekend retreat focused on personal growth, since the last few years of challenges zapped my spirit and exhausted my energy.  The retreat was awesome, and it included a follow-up session with a life coach to help me stay focused on my new growth. I was excited for my first coaching session and had no idea what to expect. I told this coach about my current work situation where I had taken time off from my successful business painting murals to have my baby. Now I need to support myself as a single mom, so it’s time to go back into business full time again.  I had one goal and focus: To double my income in the next 6 months.  I thought this coach would be able to give me marketing tips or practical advice about business resources I could use. Instead, the coach talked to me about going
